What an incredible time we had at AIDS 2012 this year! Here is a quick glimpse of all that God gave us the opportunity to do in Washington D.C. at the International AIDS conference.
Saddleback Church brought over 50 volunteers, pastors and staff to AIDS 2012 in Washington D.C. last July. The HIV&AIDS Initiative had a booth at the conference for the first time, where the Saddleback PEACE Team greeted conference attendees with hugs and the love of Jesus Christ. Our founder Kay Warren was invited to speak at the first ever session on the role of faith-based organizations in HIV&AIDS. Many left understanding the very practical and effective ways churches are necessary in the effort to end AIDS. Rick Warren took advantage of this unique opportunity to encourage several pastors who he mentors to come and learn how they can care for those with HIV&AIDS in their churches and communities. Rick & Kay also hosted the Summit on the Role of Faith-based orgainzations in Global Health and a meeting of D.C. Pastors, who live in the ground zero of HIV&AIDS in the US, at Georgetown University. It was a powerful week that will be the start of many things that God is going to do in and through His church for those living with HIV&AIDS. We can't wait!
